COURSE DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION:
Increase your physical capacities with friends and family in a fun, easy-to-follow, total-body dance workout! All levels, physical capacities, and ages are welcome. Let’s build a happy, healthy community together.

TIME COMMITMENT: 1 hour a week

CONTRACT HOURS: $35 per month or $10 drop-in

INSTRUCTIONAL METHOD: Demonstration

MAJOR LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The student will:

1. Increase endurance, range of motion, and expressive capacities.

2. Build body awareness and self-confidence.

3. Develop new coordination through carefully chosen movement patterns.

4. Discover new warm-up and cool down routines to add to your healthy lifestyle.


OUTLINE OF COURSE CONTENT:

A. Dance Warm-up
B. Cardio/Strength building combinations
C. Traveling combinations
D. Community building exercises
E. Stretch/cool-down

COURSE OUTLINE:
o How to get the most out of your fitness
o Importance of Warm-up
o Moving in space/community flow
o The value of Cool-down
o Incorporate Jazz, Modern, Ballroom, Latin, Swing, and Hip hop dance styles

What type of class do you want to offer?
Dance Fitness

Class Description: Dance Warm-up, Fun short cardio-building combinations, across the floor movement- creating traveling possibilities and bigger movement, encourage students to add their own expression to the given movement. Stretch/Cool-down.

Age group(s) designed for:
Teens, adults, families

How many hours will the class require to complete?
1 hour a week

What are your goals for the participants?
The goal is to build physical, mental and emotional health. To develop body awareness, coordination, stimulate senses, spark creativity, build community and self-confidence. Increase physical capacities such as: muscular strength and control, endurance, balance, timing, sense of body in space, proper physical carriage, and musicality.

What kind of facility do you need?
A clean studio with sprung floors, mirrors, and sufficient sound system for the playing of CDs.

How many participants could you instruct and still maintain a quality program with an enjoyable atmosphere?
25 students is the maximum for this course. Any more people and the movement is restricted, prohibiting the total-body fitness experience.
